Have I had to create Web pages by hand by writing custom CSS, HTML, and JavaScript?
Yes.
Is that something I like to do?
No.
So in 2004 I created this Web site as a Wiki (using
TWiki) and used custom CSS and a perl scripts I modified for this purpose (an early incarnation of
PublishContrib) to periodically convert the Wiki site into a static site suitable for regular hosting.
Today, I continue to use
TWiki together with the latest
PublishContrib with the static pages served up by
NearlyFreeSpeech.NET.
One advantage I had not anticipated is that the look of the Web site actually improves as TWiki improves. It certainly looks nicer than if I had designed it myself. And it is easy to maintain, which was my ultimate goal.
